Dr Disrespect Twitch
When you make your living as a Twitch streamer or YouTube content creator, you are basically at the mercy of whatever games are released.
Viewers are always looking to latch onto the next trend and streamers are essentially expected to follow it. Life for a big streamer can be tough, especially if you aren’t a fan of the various battle royale offerings that are out there considering those are what dominate the Twitch landscape.
2019 hasn’t been kind to streamers
Dr Disrespect has an opinion on pretty much everything but this one might hold some weight as it’s an issue that has been affecting many streamers this year.
“There ain’t shit out there man,” he said. “I literally want to take a break from streaming for like a year until something comes out that actually gets the Doctor fired up.”
With many of the big streamers pigeonholed into the battle royale genre, they are heavily relying on games to come out that improve the formula.
Apex Legends was thought by many to be that game, the one that could rival or even topple Fortnite, but it has dropped off significantly on Twitch, leaving the streamers to either cling to the game or find something else.
Doc isn’t the only one with this issue
While you might want to just chalk this up to the Doc just complaining again, it’s a common complaint from within the Twitch community.
Imane ‘Pokimane‘ Anys tweeted about how she thinks there are many streamers just out there begging for a new game to play.
I feel like a lot of streamers are begging for a new/fun game. We all just want to look forward to pressing the “start stream” button, but it can be hard when you’re not sure what to play or unhappy with your main game.
Hoping for something good to release soon 😔🙏

Unfortunately for these streamers, there’s not a whole to look forward to on the horizon in 2019 in terms of multiplayer games.
There’s Borderlands 3, but that’s more of co-op campaign-type game instead of traditional multiplayer title, which means things might not be getting better for streamers this year outside of the annual Call of Duty title.
Perhaps 2020 will be more kind to those looking for a new multiplayer game to be excited for. In the meantime, they’ll have to stick with the current options like Fortnite, PUBG and Apex Legends.
